UPSET at the foosball tourney!!

The loss...
Once the score was 4-1, I'm pretty sure all the people on our project gave up on us. Heck, even I just about gave up. To win, we needed to score four consecutive goals. That is quite a feat against even a novice team, let alone a good one. But we didn't give up. We didn't come there to lose in the first round. We came to win. And that's when we began our Rocky-esque comeback. With every block I made at goal and every shot that Chad hammered home, the crowd began oo-ing and ah-ing. And you could feel the momentum beginning to sway. Before you knew it, we had tied the game up at 4-4.
I think the look on my face in this picture is worth a thousand words. When Chad knocked in the game winner it was an amazing feeling. The other team didn't even shake our hands. They walked right out of the room. Chad and I were ecstatic. And everyone watching seemed to be pretty impressed by our come-from-behind victory. My hands were still shaking after the match. I'm still amazed at how emotionally and mentally draining that was. But it felt good. It felt great. And it was also cool that we did this while so many people were still there watching. I couldn't have written a better script.
Our second round match looked like it would be a cake walk. But once again, we fell down 4-1. I have no idea how. With our backs up against the wall yet again, we needed another miracle. At one point, they scored the would-be game winner, but it was a 'foos', meaning their center line knocked it in without any other line touching it. As soon as they scored the goal, I vehemently protested, saying that it was a foos. I was told later by someone that it looked like I was gonna hop over the table and kill the kid. So there was no way they weren't going to take that goal back. Unfortunately, our luck ran out. We lost 5-3. We were mad. We were disappointed. We lost.
Here's Bill, one of the lead partners in the AT&T portfolio and Lynn, the lead partner for the Murray Hill building. Anyway, after Chad and I lost, I went back with him to his place in Hoboken. We decided in advance that we were either going to celebrate our victory or drown our sorrows. We ended up going out with the two of us and Cindy, Chad's girlfriend. We had an awesome time, mostly at Black Bear, and by the end of the night, the last thing either of us were thinking about was foosball. We may not have won, but in the end, you have to look at the big picture. It's not about winning or losing. It's about having good times with good people. But damn, I sure wish we WON!!!
