GROUND ZERO & U2

The Long Walk Back...
Everywhere we went there was something patriotic. Even the good ol' Empire State Building, once again the tallest on the island, was lit up in red, white and blue. That was pretty cool. In fact, the last time Jen and I were in New York, September 1st, it was also lit up in red, white and blue, for Labor Day. Our walk back took us even longer because I wanted to walk through Chinatown and Little Italy. Our zig-zag path ended up taking about an hour and a half. It got to the point where we just needed to rest out feet and sit down. My feet were throbbing from all the walking. I would've loved a nice shiatsu massage or whatever those things are.
I thought this was a pretty cool billboard so I took a picture of it (especially since I'm such an advocate of Yahoo). This was a few blocks before where we went to eat. Since time was becoming a factor, we went to eat at some random diner about ten blocks away from MSG. We were in and out in like twenty minutes. Can't beat that. And I also had a very tasty egg white omelet with ham. I didn't eat the french fries that came with it. I was like, french fries?? With an omelet? I want my damn home fries!!
I couldn't resist taking this picture. As we were making our way through Little Italy, the neon sign of this place beckoned me. I almost felt obligated to eat there. Actually, I think I just wanted them to see the name on my credit card when I paid! Unfortunately, it was mostly a pastry/wine place and we both needed some real food. I'm sure people were wondering why the hell I was stopped in the middle of the sidewalk taking a picture of some random eatery. Then again, this is New York City. Not only didn't they care, but I'm sure they didn't even notice. You gotta love that.
