GROUND ZERO & U2

Amazing Concert
When we finally made our way back to MSG, we saw the huge sign saying that no backpacks or cameras were allowed to be brought into the venue. Not only did I have my backpack with me, but I also had two cameras. We had no idea what we were going to do. There was nowhere to store anything in Penn Station or at MSG. I finally asked of the MSG security guys and he told me to take the chance and try to sneak it in. Gotta love tight security. So I did exactly that and got it in.
Jen and I watched the Yankees in game one of the World Series during the opening act, Stereophonics. We gave them one song and then walked out. They weren't bad, but we wanted to watch the Yanks. U2 on the other hand, put on an amazing show. I think my two favorite songs of the night were 'Angel of Harlem' and 'One'. They played 'One' during their second encore and during the song, on the media screens behind the stage, they scrolled the names of the people who died on all four 9/11 flights as well as the name of all NYPD and FDNY who lost their lives. It was a very moving tribute.
During their second encore, Bono invited a bunch of FDNY firemen onto the stage to dance around for the last song, to say whatever they wanted into the mike, to share the spotlight. And in typical U2 fashion, they quietly faded into the background, letting the firemen steal the show. I don't even know when U2 walked off. No goodbye, nothing. It was very fitting. Oh, and Jen and I narrowly missed the 11:44pm train back to Denville, so we had to wait around for another hour. Luckily it was the night we turned the clocks back. And luckily the eateries by the LIRR were still open.
