Gentlemen prefer blondes...
I'm not sure who actually gets credit for the idea of dying Rob's hair blonde, but all I know is that Rob surprising agreed to it without even thinking. We tried in vain on Friday night to do it. All we were armed with was a bottle of peroxide and the knowledge that it somehow makes your hair blonde. So Rob ran some peroxide through his hair, made this bag to fit over his head and keep the heat in, and he also dipped his goatee into a nice tall glass of peroxide.
Little did we know that the key catalyst to this process was heat (i.e. hair dryer). So Rob ended up with nothing more than some peroxide on his skin and we ended up with some good pictures.
On Saturday night, we wanted to make sure we did it right. We went to the drug store and Rob bought a hair dying kit that the pharmacist girl recommended (it was the same kind her boyfriend uses). It felt like we were doing some sort of chemistry experiment- mixing these powders, filling up bottles. It was awesome. And it yielded exactly the result that we were looking for. Here's Rob after his first coat of blondeness. I love how it looks like flames.
When he was done, I think Mikey and I must've felt like Dr. Frankenstein upon completing his creation. Plain and simple, Rob looked absolutely incredible. His hair died to a perfect bright blonde- maybe even borderline yellow. Here he is, all decked out, ready for another night in the city- but this time as a blonde. I was so caught up in the frenzy that I wanted to dye something on me too. So I tried dying a few strands of hair with minimal success. It was just so funny seeing this process. We were all just so excited that Rob was such a willing participant and that his results were so good.
I'm not sure what was cooler about Rob's appearance- the yellow goatee, his huge porkchop sideburns, his fiery yellow hair, the snakeskin pants... He was definitely all set. I'd say that about 90% of the guys who go out to clubs are exactly the same- in the way they look, they way the act, the way the dress. If it's all about setting yourself apart from the herd, than Rob was definitely ready for the night.
